چکیده

Having first performed a Monte Carlo simulation to justify the analysis technique to be used, we then analyze the Bose-Einstein correlation functions from CERN experiment NA44 in the context of the core-halo model. Although experimental resolution and error bar distribution prevents a direct observation of the halo structure, the values for the core radius and the core fraction of pions can be obtained in a straightforward manner. These are found to be independent of the structure of the correlation function at small relative momenta of Q < 50 MeV. Hence, the ω meson decay products do not distort the Gaussian shape of the Bose-Einstein correlation function in S+Pb → π+π+X reaction at CERN SPS. As we find that the “model-independent” HBT radii yield results that are quantitatively as well as qualitatively unreliable for systems with long-lived resonances, we present their corrected form that applies for correlation functions with λ(K) < 1.

Partial coherence in the core/halo picture of Bose-Einstein n-particle correlations

We study the influence of a possible coherent component in the boson source on the two-, threeand n-particle correlation functions in a generalized core/halo type of boson-emitting source. In particular, a simple formula is presented for the strengh of the n-particle correlation functions for such systems. Graph rules are obtained to evaluate the correlation functions of arbitrary high order. T...

Analyses of two and three pion Bose-Einstein Correlations using Coulomb wave functions

Using effective formulas we analyze the Bose-Einstein correlations (BEC) data corrected for Coulomb interactions provided by STAR Collaboration and the quasicorrected data (raw data with acceptance correction etc) on 2π and 3π BEC by using Coulomb wave function with coherence parameter included. The corresponding magnitudes of the interaction regions turn out to be almost the same: RCoul(2π) ≃ ...

Particle Interferometry from 40 MeV to 40 TeV

Recent developments are summarized in the theory of Bose– Einstein and Fermi–Dirac correlations, with emphasis on the necessity of a simultaneous analysis of particle spectra and quantum statistical correlations for a detailed reconstruction of the space-time picture of particle emission. The reviewed topics are as follows: basics and formalism of quantum-statistical correlations, model-indepen...

We report on a systematic treatment of Coulomb corrections for 3-and n-particle (Bose-Einstein) correlations, leading to a removal of a 100 % systematic error from earlier Coulomb corrections of 5-particle Bose-Einstein correlations in heavy ion collisions. These results are generalized to include strong final state interactions and core-halo effects.

BOSE-EINSTEIN CORRELATIONS IN PION PRODUCTION AT TRISTAN

Measurement of Bose-Einstein correlations in the production of like-signed pion pairs has been made with the AMY detector at TRISTAN. An event sample of 10120 hadronic events with ranging between 50 to 61 GeV was used. These measurements indicate a strength of the enhancement of ? = 0.61M.07, with a typical correlation size of Ro = 1.16±.08 fm. This value of ? is consistent with measurem...
